Key concepts

The handful of words you'll see across Studio and these docs, and how they fit together.

Workspace

Where a team works. A workspace holds its games, folders, members, fonts, settings, plan and AI balance. You can belong to several, and switch between them from the top of the sidebar. See Workspaces and members.

Game and game type

A game type is one of Playgent's 68 kinds of game, such as Wordsearch, Trivia or Sudoku. A game is yours: a game type with your name, look, features and puzzles. You can make many games of the same type. See the game library.

Puzzle

One round of a game: today's word, a grid of numbers, eight trivia questions. Puzzles come from three places:

  • Yours, written by Playgent Forge from your request, or by you in the Editor.
  • Playgent's daily puzzles, a new one each day for many games.
  • Built-in puzzles, made by the game itself.

Content type: Pinned, Daily, Random

How players get puzzles, set in Schedule:

Players get
PinnedThe same puzzle on every visit. Every new game starts here.
DailyA new puzzle every day, with streaks and past days.
RandomA different puzzle on every visit.

See Daily games and the schedule.

Style and Features

Style is how the game looks: font, corners and colors. Features is what players can use: the cover, the timer, hints, the end screen, sharing, streaks and the leaderboard. See Look and feel.

Playgent Forge

Playgent's own AI for puzzles and games. It writes puzzles in each game's exact format, checks them, and makes the changes you ask for in the chat. It's paid from the workspace's balance, or you can use your own model key instead.

Publish and update

Publishing puts a game online. Until then, only your workspace sees it. After that, your edits wait until you update the game, so players never see half-finished changes. See Publish and update.

Every published game has two ways to reach players, and neither ever changes:

The game's id, like pg_7hk2qp0azx, is in both.

Your sites

The list of websites allowed to show your games. While it's empty, any site can. See Your sites.

Results, leaderboards and readers

A result is one player's finished puzzle. Results fill leaderboards. Players are guests, unless your site tells the game who they are: then they're signed-in readers, with their own names, and their results can be sent to your server. See Results.

Roles

What each member can do: Owner, Admin, Developer, Editor or Analyst. Editors make games; Developers also publish them; Analysts watch. See roles.

AI assistants and MCP

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor use Playgent for you: make a game, publish it, check today's plays. See Connect an assistant.
