MCP server
Playgent Studio is a Model Context Protocol server. Any assistant that speaks MCP can make, edit and publish games, read analytics and leaderboards, and check the balance, acting as the person who connected it.
https://studio.playgent.com/mcpFor step-by-step setup in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others, see Connect an assistant.
How it works
- The assistant decides what to ask for. Playgent Forge writes the game, exactly as in the Studio chat, paid from the workspace balance. If the workspace uses its own model key, that model writes instead.
- Every request shows in the game's chat in Studio, so the team can see what was asked and changed.
- The assistant acts as the person who connected it, with their role at that moment. If their role changes, so does what the assistant can do.
Signing in
The server follows the MCP authorization spec, so assistants that support it sign in on their own:
- The assistant opens a Playgent page titled Connect an assistant.
- You sign in if needed, choose the Workspace if you have several, and press Allow.
- The assistant stays connected as long as it is used at least once every 60 days.
Under the hood this is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Clients can identify themselves with a client ID metadata document, or register dynamically. The server publishes its metadata at the standard well-known addresses.
Access keys
Assistants that can't open a browser send an access key instead:
Authorization: Bearer pgk_…See Access keys.
Tools
| Tool | What it does | Inputs |
|---|---|---|
list_game_types | Lists the game types: id, name, one line, minutes, levels, and whether it takes puzzles of its own. | None |
list_games | Lists the workspace's games: id, name, type, whether it's Daily, whether it's live, its share link and Studio link. | None |
get_game | One game in detail: type, cover name, today's puzzle, colors, font, level and features. Live games include the share link and embed code. | game_id |
create_game | Makes a new game from a request in plain words. The game isn't online until it's published. | request, and optionally game_type and name |
edit_game | Changes a game in plain words: colors, cover name, features, level, puzzle, or a plan of daily puzzles. | game_id, request |
set_play_mode | Daily, Pinned or Random. Players see it after the game is published. | game_id, mode |
make_puzzles | Writes the days of a plan that create_game or edit_game proposed. Runs in the background. | game_id, plan_id |
get_puzzle_job | How far make_puzzles got. | job_id |
publish_game | Puts a game online, or updates it. Returns the share link and embed code. | game_id |
unpublish_game | Takes a game offline everywhere. Assistants ask you before running it. | game_id |
get_leaderboard | The top 10 of a live game's leaderboard and how many played. | game_id, and optionally day and level |
get_analytics | Impressions, plays, completions, start rate, completion rate and average time, in total and per game. | Optionally range (today, 7d, 30d, 90d) and game_id |
get_balance | The plan, the balance, and whether the workspace uses Playgent Forge or its own model. | None |
A typical run: create_game, then publish_game, then the assistant gives you the share link.
Who can do what
| Tools | Roles |
|---|---|
Reading: list_*, get_* | Everyone |
Making and changing: create_game, edit_game, set_play_mode, make_puzzles | Owner, Admin, Developer, Editor |
Publishing: publish_game, unpublish_game | Owner, Admin, Developer |
Limits
- Assistants can start 50 new games a day in a workspace. Change existing games with
edit_gameas often as you like. - One request at a time per game. A second one while Forge is still working is refused: ask again in a minute.
- A request can take up to about 5 minutes. Assistants that show progress get an update every 10 seconds.
- Making and changing games need a plan or trial, and a balance above $0 or the workspace's own model key.
- Pictures can't be added by assistants. Add them in the Studio's Editor.
